Arthshila Ahmedabad’s Film Showcase this week features Maa toh Ashbei (Mother will Arrive) by Runa Mukherjee Parikh. Mother will Arrive is a documentary film about the situation of the idol makers of Kolkata during the pandemic. The idol makers of Kolkata are world-renowned for creating idols of goddess Durga for the festival of Durga Puja every year. The documentary highlights the turbulent times witnessed through the lens of these artists of West Bengal.
