Join us for a Paper Making Workshop with Anupam Chakraborty at Arthshila Ahmedabad on Sunday, 19 March 2023 at 10.00 am.

Participants will learn the process of making paper from the pseudo-stem of the banana plant and by recycling paper along with watermarking and embedding techniques.

Registered Participants must bring with them the following material listed below:

  • Circular Sieve/Strainer (fine mesh) & Embroidery Hoop Ring (2 of each)
  • White Handmade/Mill-made Paper (Cartridge Paper/Art Paper/Ivory Sheet etc.). Tear/cut the paper in small pieces (approx. 1 sq.in.) and soak overnight in normal water. Bring the wet pieces in a plastic container/poly bag.
  • Surgical Tape (1 roll, 2-3 inch width).
  • Cotton Cloth (poplin/cambric/old sari/dhoti) (4-5 pcs, 14 x 11 inches)
  • Paper, pencil, vegetable chopper/knife, pencil, cutter, scissors and a tweezers (1 each).
  • Colour Thread, Wool, Flower Petals, Leaves (Handful).
  • Apron & Rubber Slippers.

About Anupam Chakraborty:

Anupam Chakraborty is an artist, papermaker and educator who lives and works in Kolkata. Anupam is an alumnus of Kala Bhavana, Santiniketan, Faculty of Fine Arts, M S University of Baroda and Glasgow School of Art, UK. He has received many prestigious awards. Anupam has over 25 years of teaching experience and has conducted several workshops at many academic institutes and organizations. He is the founder and creative director of Nirupama Academy of Handmade Paper, Kolkata.
