In this session, G.Reghu will discuss ceramics as a medium for exploration, highlighting the opportunities in the current period and linking it with his personal journey of exploring ceramics.
Born in 1959 in Kilimanoor, Kerala, sculptor G. Reghu has been working with ceramic clay for over three decades. Clay is more than just a material for Reghu. He uses the stoneware form of clay and having worked for so long with this medium he is now adept at customizing it to suit his requirements. Reghu’s figures and themes stem from the rural areas of Wayanad and Bastar and the aesthetic language of his work and affinity for indigenous materials stem from some of the early influences in his life from Elizabeth Baker, Laurie Baker and J Swaminathan at Bharat Bhavan.
