Join us on 𝟭𝟭 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 (𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆) at Arthshila Santiniketan for the 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗱𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘀𝗴𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗮. This evening will begin with an introductory speech by 𝗚𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗮𝗺 𝗚𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲.

The talk will be followed by two film screenings: 𝗘𝗸𝗶 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗘𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗽 and 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗸, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲.

𝗘𝗸𝗶 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗘𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗽:

This is the first feature film of Hari S Dasgupta and is considered by most critics as an outstanding film, much ahead of its time. The film was awarded the Certificate of Merit at the Edinburgh Film Festival in 1966.

𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗸, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲:

One of the most acclaimed Indian documentary films of all time, it poetically catches throngs of visitors during the Chandrabhaga festival, on the 7th day of the month of Maagh. Its blend of splendid ancient architecture and people admiring it on an auspicious occasion stays in the mind.

𝗕𝗶𝗼:

Goutam Ghose is an Indian film director, actor, music director and cinematographer who works primarily in Bengali cinema. He started making documentaries in the early 70s, took an active part in the group theatre movement in Calcutta, where he also worked as a photojournalist. Since then, he has made a number of international award-winning feature films and documentaries. He is the only Indian to have received the “Vittorio Di Sica” Award, Italy, in 1997.
