Synopsis:
A Night of Prophecy is a film about poetry, songs and the passage of time through multiple journeys along fault lines in a democracy. Interrogating the nation, its history and future, the film and the poets open up an underbelly seldom experienced. The film is in 11 languages (subtitled in English) and travels across the Indian subcontinent through the states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland and Kashmir.
Amar Kanwar’s films and multi-media works explore the politics of power, violence and justice.
Bio:
Ajinkya Shenava is a poet and researcher, currently pursuing a PhD in Social Anthropology at Shiv Nadar University. His research explores the English and Marathi poetry of the “Bombay Poet” Arun Kolatkar. His poems and essays have been published on various platforms, including Outlook, ASAP | Art, Art India, Contemporary Art Journal, Goya Journal, Usawa Literary Journal, On Eating, Maktoob, and others.
