Sarita Sundar is a designer and design historian based in India. At Hanno, her heritage interpretation and design consultancy, she combines 35 years of working with brand design and strategy with her academic training in museum studies. Her recent publication: ‘From the Frugal to the Ornate: Stories of the Seat in India’, culturally and temporally, maps the journey of a ubiquitous and everyday object, while also challenging existing norms of design historiography. She has conducted lectures at academic and cultural institutions across India and abroad.
Dr Rebecca Reubens is an alumna of NIFT Delhi, NID Ahmedabad, and Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. She engages with the links between sustainability, craft and design through her practice at Rhizome, the sustainability design studio she founded in 2009. Rhizome works in the space of sustainable luxury through its eponymous furniture label, and its sustainable jewellery label called Baka. Having worked with bamboo for over 2 decades, she is a World Bamboo Ambassador for the World Bamboo Organization. She has also authored several publications.
Priyanka Narula is the co-founder of Prelab Design Studio, an architecture and design practice based out of Hyderabad. An architect and alumni of IAAC, Barcelona, Narula has made a name for herself as a top designer of modern, chic, and functional wicker furniture, particularly for contemporary Indian designs. In 2019, she established ‘The Wicker Story’ that focuses on creating bespoke cane furniture in collaboration with traditional craftsmen and artists. The project involves the translation of digital processes for complex designing for easy adaptability to Indian craft and material systems.
