Alma: Amidst fleeting glances through a glass window, two strangers find solace in an unspoken connection. At its heart, the film gently navigates the profound inquiries: (1) What compels us, amidst the echoes of past pain, to persist in pursuit of a lover’s embrace? (2) By what measure do we discern when a particular mental state transcends into the realm of a designated psychological disorder? These contemplative threads weave through the narrative, unravelling the delicate intricacies of human emotion and the enigmatic nature of our psychological landscapes.

I Saw a God Dance: The film constructs a fragmented portrait of Ram Gopal’s life, piecing together disparate archival materials—local 8mm film footage from the neighborhood where his family lived in the early 1900s, photographs, documents, reviews, audio recordings, and recent interviews with dancers who knew him well. The context of the film is set against the backdrop of a world in the midst of immense change, both nationally and internationally, during the mid-20th century. Through this, I Saw a God Dance unravels and annotates the various journeys Ram Gopal undertook as a dancer searching for professional and personal meaning in his life.

Dekho Main Hoon (Look…It’s Me ): A small crew observes Navtej Singh Johar’s workshop space where participants explore touch, intimacy and expression. As deeper questions emerge, the borders between observing and capturing and thinking and acting upon –  merge.

Andar Bahar (Inside Out :  A drag artist explores the comfort of getting ready and performing on a stage versus being on the public streets of Mumbai in drag. A 16mm film supported by Harkat Studios.
