Feminist Collective in Architecture (FCA) is a collective of architects, artists and designers working towards creating and expanding spaces for non cis-males in architecture and allied fields. FCA works towards mobilizing professionals, academicians and students to discuss and act upon issues of gender and to reconceive the discipline of architecture from a feminist lens – both in a discursive as well as practical manner. The Collective aims to not only expand the discourse in education, research and practice, but also become agents of transformation.
Join us for the first book reading session of FCA, moderated by Madhavi Desai. This will be facilitated and hosted by Arthshila Ahmedabad on 28 May 2022, Saturday at 4.30pm.
About the book:
Title: Dear Ijeawele Or a Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions
Author: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Before becoming a book, Dear Ijeawele was a personal e-mail written by Adichie in response to her friend, “Ijeawele”, who had asked Adichie’s advice on how to raise her daughter as a feminist. The correspondence resulted in an epistolary form manifesto. While the manifesto was written to a female friend, the work’s audience scope has been recognized to extend beyond only the mothers of daughters.
