About The Event

Professor Singanapalli Balaram is a designer, author, and teacher with 53 years of experience. He has published seven books including ‘Thinking Design’, which was translated into other languages. He was among the pioneer Design Educators of India and has also been the Chairman of Education at the National Institute of Design. Invited by the Government of India, he established the ‘Craft Development Institute’ in Kashmir. He has been conferred with several distinguished honours, awards and held various positions over the years such as Founder Dean of DJ. Academy of Design, Emeritus Professor of CEPT University, invited member of the Editorial Board of Design Issues, International Journal, Grand Jury Award for Universal Design Education by International Association of Universal Designers amongst many others. Presently, he is the Founder Director of Sasi Creative Institute of Design, Coimbatore.

In this session, Prof. S. Balaram will share his journey and speak on relevant design education in India.
