17 : 30 | Ahmedabad
Arthshila Ahmedabad’s Film Showcase this week features a series of six short animated films (Printed Rainbow, A Summer Story, The Balloon, Shape, Balance and Apathy).
DETAILS:
20 December 2024 (Fri) | 5.30 pm
21-22 December 2024 (Sat-Sun) | 11.30 am
Running Time: 50 mins
Printed Rainbow: The journey of an old woman and her cat through the fantastical world of match box covers.
A Summer Story: Based on K G Subramanyan’s illustrated book A Summer Story that retells the old story of the thirsty crow in today’s context. Ink drawings on paper, animated.
The Balloon: A quick warning people against rumor-mongering. Rumors can make a mountain out of a molehill.
Shape: ‘Shape’ is the short film at the heart of the project, highlighting the changes happening around us that we don’t ordinarily notice and how they affect us. Breaking the film into a series of scenarios, it presents design within wide contexts, prompts curiosity, and identifies some of the practitioners working in these contexts.
Balance: The setting is on a floating platform where a group of evenly and carefully placed men live. Each man is aware that the platform is not stable and in order not to fall to their deaths, they maintain a careful balance of weight to prevent the platform from tipping too far and cause them all to fall. This reasonably harmonious understanding is lost when one man pulls up a heavy trunk. In the ensuing struggle, balance is lost in more than one sense.
Apathy: A film made humorously to show the common man’s apathy in his day to day behaviour.
