As a concluding segment of the ongoing exhibition ’The Nature of Furniture: Amolakh’s Way’ we are pleased to announce ‘𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽: 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗸 – 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺’ a workshop by Amolakh.

The workshop will offer the chance for the participants to plant hardwood saplings at Shreyas School where they will also be introduced to a range of mature trees and their properties. From there, participants will return to Arthshila Ahmedabad where they will look at the exhibition in more detail and engage everyone in the process of assembling and finishing a small piece of furniture. There will be no machinery used, the focus of the morning will be on handling the saplings, the wood and the components of the pieces of furniture.

The exhibition ‘𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: 𝗔𝗺𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗵’𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘆’ focuses on the twin fundamentals of furniture: materials and process. At a time when the demand for furniture is increasing exponentially, the exhibition uses these terms as a way of understanding the first principles of furniture making. The word ‘AMOLAKH’ defines something as precious and unique. Amolakh is a small company established in Ahmedabad in memory of Amolakh, the great-grandfather of the founder, Maneesh Kumar.
