Prita will share some insights from her vast experience at the grassroots level with rural and urban landscapes across 4 districts in Gujarat. The talk shall address one of the central, but often ignored aspects of the building and construction industry- the greater vulnerability of migrant women and children. Such issues involving cases of violence, abuse, and exploitation of women and children on construction sites are never brought to courtrooms and often do not find space in the larger dialogues involving the profession of architecture.

Furthermore, Prita will shed light on some aspects of adolescent sexuality- aspects of which we come across in places of work and institutions. Through the talk and subsequent discussion, we hope to identify actions that architects can take to address these concerns at construction sites, workers’ housing, and also while interacting with youth at colleges and in design offices.
