Renowned Dastangoi and Soz Khwan, Askari Naqvi, conducted a workshop with 30 children on October 13 & 14, 2017. He described the details, starting from the story of Muharram to how we Indians present the story through music and poetry. The two hour session ended with short demonstrations of the three art forms, Soz Khwani, Marshia Khwani and Nauha khwani. Later on a special assembly was conducted for Classes 9th – 12th, where he narrated the 1400 year old story of Muharram and how this story is being told all over the World. On October 15, 2017, Askari Naqvi performed at Nritya Kala Mandir. The compositions for Soz-Khwani are based on classical Ragas. Askari Naqvi told the entire story of the battle through soz khwani. He devised a performance form where he sang and performed a Soz with some story and narration in between.
